Guy Sebastian performs before the Queen at CHOGM

Singing a self-penned song written for the Opening Ceremony of CHOGM by the QUEEN - Guy Sebastian shows his true Aussie class again!

In attendance at the opening ceremony held in Perth on 28 October 2011, were Queen Elizabeth II, Prime Minister Julia Gillard, the Secretary-General of the Commonwealth and heads of government from all 53 Commonwealth nations.

The Queen appears to be a fan of Guy Sebastian and the singer/songwriter is a fan of CHOGM.

The former Australian Idol winner stole the show at yesterday's opening ceremony.  The Herald Sun has learned that Sebastian wrote the song It Starts With Us for the biggest-ever gathering of world leaders in Australia.

"United we stand: we've given our all; be as one; we'll rise to the call," he sang.

Sebastian received enthusiastic applause from the Queen, who had otherwise appeared unemotional through the 90-minute ceremony of speeches, dance and other cultural performances.

Guy Sebastian arrested in Los Angeles by 10 policemen for Grand Theft Auto.

Guy Sebastian was pushed to the ground, handcuffed and hauled off to the LAPD cop shop for stealing his own car. It was a bizarre misunderstanding and Sebastian explains this to Queen of Australian daytime television Kerri-Anne Kennerley.

Guy performs on the TODAY show on Australia Day at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. Richard Wilkins interviews Guy about his performance in front of Barry Gibb at the G'Day USA Black Tie Gala Ball causing Barry to cry.

Barry Gibb, was honoured for Excellence in Music and presented an award by Aussie singer and actress, Olivia Newton-John.

Oprah was so impressed with Guy Sebastian she invited him to perform again at her top-secret wrap party

Guy Sebastian performs for Oprah when she hosts a lavish cocktail party at the Sydney Opera House for her 300 US guests flown to Australia by pilot/actor John Travolta her friend.



So impressed was Oprah with Guy that she personally invited him to perform again at an exclusive top-secret wrap party for Oprah’s staff at The Argyle in The Rocks in Sydney, Australia. Oprah was grooving and busting moves with her team and took to the stage afterwards to declare that while Sebastian is big in Australia, pretty soon he was going to be huge in America, too.

BTW today Guy Sebastian has just gone #1 in the Australian ARIA Charts with Who's That Girl - wonderful Christmas Present for him - Oprah sure can pick them!

This show will bring together two musical greats, the incredible voice of "Australian Idol" Guy Sebastian and the legendary Stax axe man Steve Cropper. Their recent collaboration on Sebastian's 3 x platinum The Memphis Album has led to touring together, and the two are coming to World Cafe Live to kick up some soulful R&B.

Guy Sebastian is an Australian singer/songwriter with several top albums and singles under his belt since winning the country's first "Idol" contest in 2003. His joyous and individualistic style has won him over twenty music awards, and his U.S. debut is expected this summer.

Steve Cropper is named one of the "Top 100 Guitarists of All Time" by Rolling Stone, Steve Cropper first picked up a guitar at age 14 and began playing with local musicians in his native Tennessee. Legendary for for his work with Booker T & the MGs, The Blues Brothers, and his songwriting, engineering and producing, he has been inducted into the American Hall of Fame four times (Rock and Roll, Rhythm & Blues, Songwriters and Musicians). Cropper has been credited with writing some of the most enduring soul music of all time.

Guy performs with the Australian Philharmonic (‘Pops’) Orchestra, a 60-piece orchestra that included harp, grand piano and a drummer, bass player and guitarist. Not to mention a choir of about forty singers. The orchestra was conducted on this occasion by Gavin Sutherland.

Guy is still a number one Idol, charming and charismatic. His manner onstage was confident, relaxed, happy and self-effacing. He chatted to his audience as if we were in his lounge room or among the congregation at his church. He took us on a journey through his short career and through the various musical influences that shaped him: Nat King Cole, the Beatles, Elvis, the Righteous Brothers and Gospel music.

Billed simply as ‘Guy’, the inaugural winner of Australian Idol Guy Sebastian has built a strong fan base, judging from the turnout at his gig with the Australian Philharmonic Orchestra at Hamer Hall on Saturday. The hall was packed with men, women and children of all ages. A strange setting for a pop idol, but it didn’t put off the fans, who applauded every song loudly, laughed at every joke and ended up giving Guy a standing ovation.
